SYNOPSIS: Hornsleth: Product of Love is the definitive documentary about the controversial Danish-Scot conceptual artist, Kristian Von Hornsleth. Produced over a three year period, this film goes under the skin of the most understood counter-cultural artist of his generation. It is a very powerful and beautiful reflection on a formidable artist.

Product of Love taps deeply into Hornsleth’s work: the exquisite inner narratives, his use of eroticism to subvert the power of the advertising industry, his response to Third World poverty and abuse, his motivations, influences, fears and ambitions. It offers a sobering analysis of the man and his work.

Narrated with finesse by Harry Potter star Jon Campling, Product of Love features very potent interviews with Hornsleth, very intoxicating analysis by renowned German art historian and critic Wolf Gunther Thiel, and a pinpointed breakdown by American research sociologist Glenn Muschert of University of Miami.

Hornsleth: Product of Love is a tour de force by poet/director Ishmael Annobil, whose incisive journalism and lyrical critique underpin this “sweetly unnerving” documentary. He describes the film as, “a bonfire in the arctic”.
Editing and grading is by Damien Kwasnik, whose ‘crafted’ cut, coupled with his finely nuanced colour work, helps make Product of Love a film to contend with on all fronts.
